Rich McCormick, an American legislator, praised Indian Americans and pointed out that the group, which makes up approximately 1% of the US population, pays around 6% of the country’s taxes.
Additionally, he gave a particular tribute to Swati Vijay Kulkarni, who served as Atlanta’s third consul general and will soon return to India.
McCormick said, “I rise to this opportunity to thank my associates, particularly those who have immigrated from India. Over 100,000 people have immigrated to our country directly from India. In my neighbourhood, one out of every five doctors is Indian. They are among the best American citizens we have”.
We should simplify the immigration procedure for people who come to this country to uphold the law and pay their taxes, he continued. Despite making up only 1% of American society, the Indian-American population contributes around 6% of the nation’s taxes.
He praised the neighbourhood for its output and for being the nation’s law-abiding people. McCormick identified Indians who reside in the US as top producers.
He said that because Indians are the most productive, family-oriented, and the best example of what constitutes American citizens, they do not cause issues, follow the law, and do not experience problems that other people do, such as despair or worry.
As her term concludes, who is also a physician, McCormick expressed excitement about getting to know Dr Swati Vijay Kulkarni, India’s consul general in Atlanta.
As Dr Swati Vijay Kulkarni leaves her role as consul general in Atlanta (@CGI Atlanta) to return to India, McCormick tweeted: “I wanted to pay a quick tribute to her, amazing Indian-American community in Georgia, who are outstanding patriots, upstanding citizens, and good friends.”
Additionally, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, asked the US to expedite the issuance of business visas for Indian citizens so they may make quick travels to further their commercial and business interests.
He stated during a press conference that India is a region that has to be accelerated so that businesspeople interested on both sides can have quicker processing of business visas to prevent commerce and investment from unnecessary suffering.
The minister for the Union also noted how the amount of professionals, students, skilled workers, investors, and business travellers between the two countries is growing.
Additionally, he added that it would improve bilateral relations. In order for Indian students to go to the US to complete their studies in the fall of 2022, the US is now able to process student visas on an expedited basis.
