74th British Academy Film Awards, also known as BAFTA awards were held between April 11 and 12. The award ceremony took place in Royal Albert Hall, London, United Kingdom. Here are the highlights and and list of the winners-
This year the most outstanding movie award was given to “Nomad Land”, and the movie also won major awards for the night.
There were 25 categories in which eight survived on the first day that is April 10. On the second day, the remaining awards ceremony took place through the virtual ceremony.
Chloe Zhao, won BAFTA award for Best Director for “Nomadland”. While Anthony Hopkins won the Best Actor Award for “The Father”.
“Soul” won the Best-Animated Film of the Year, and “Promising Young Woman” won Outstanding British Movies of the Year.
There was a big win for actor Adarsh Gourav, who won the Best Actor Award for the lead role in the movie “The White Tiger”. In the recent interview, he expressed his gratitude for such a prestigious award, and also thanked the director. Adarsh said, “It really depends on the director you are working with and in Ramin’s case, he did not want us to see the playback so everything that happened has been surprising and overwhelming for me. The BAFTA nomination is really overwhelming. It feels like I’m reading a chapter from a book.”
This award ceremony was the celebration of the Best of Cinematic Worlds. Though, the red carpet was not opened for the public this year due to the pandemic, the stalwarts of the film industry made this day a memorable one.
