Belgium celebrates its National Day 2023

Belgium celebrated its National Day on Friday, July 21, 2023, to commemorate its history and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the reign of King Philippe. On this Day, King Leopold I took the constitutional throne as the first King of Belgium in 1831.

As per the Update, the Belgium National Day is celebrated on July 21 every year to commemorate and honour the greatness of King Leopold I took the constitutional throne as the first King of Belgium in 1831. This year, the National Day also coincides with the 10th anniversary of King Philippe’s reign, making it a significant day in Belgian history.

The celebrations begin on the 20th with the Bal National at the Place du Jeu du Balle and end on the evening of the 21st with the “Happy Belgium” concert in Cinquantenaire Park, followed by a laser, light and fireworks display.

To celebrate this special day for Belgium, the Federal Government organised various activities in Belgium from the day before the special day, i-e, on July 20, 2023.

July 20 2023

  • From 7.30 pm – Bal National – Place du Jeu du Balle
  • 8 pm – Concert in Flagey as a prelude to National Day – sold out – live on TV

July 21 2023

  • 10 am – Te Deum –St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral
  • From 10 am – Party in the Park – Brussels Park/Rue de la Régence and surroundings

– Police village – Place Poelaert

– Defence – Place Royale, Coudenberg and Rue de la Régence

– Security village, FPS Interior – Place du Grand Sablon (Zavel)

– B-Fast, Red Cross, BPS, SIAMU, Customs etc. – Rue de la Régence

  • 4 pm – Military and citizens’ parade
  • 9 pm –”Happy Belgium” concert in Cinquantenaire Park
  • 11 pm – Laser, light and fireworks display – Cinquantenaire Park
