Belgium culture industry to protest in Brussels on Sunday
Belgium culture world has planned to protest for Sunday against the Consultative Committee’s decision to close showrooms to prevent the continuous spread of Omicron-new variant of COVID-19.
According to an announcement made by Flemish actor Stany Crets, “The protest will begin at 2:00 PM at the Mont des Arts in central Brussels (rather than the Place de la Monnaie, as initially intended).”
Meanwhile, the organisers added that, “We will ask the Consultative Committee to reverse its decision at this peaceful meeting of people who care about culture and events. At the same time, we will insistently ask for a viable, profitable long-term framework for culture, accompanied by supportive measures.”
Wednesday decision of the Consultative Committee’s to close cultural institutions from Sunday, December 26, to prevent introducing the Omicron-new variant of COVID-19 has sparked outrage in the cultural sector and surprised scientific specialists who had not urged such a move.
