Bulgarian Ministry announces opening of Central State Archive on International Archive Day

The Bulgarian Ministry announced the opening of the Central State Archive on Friday, June 9, 2023, on International Archive Day at 11 am. at the Archives Exhibition Hall on the street. The exhibition, which will take place on June 9, is also presented on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Central State Archive. The Central Party Archive has also joined them to the Central Party of the BCP. Thus, the documented legacy of the significant state institutions in Bulgaria and personalities of national importance has been combined into one. Today, part of it is available to the public through current exposure.

The exhibition best expresses the mission of the State Archives in the country – to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage to make it known to the public and serve as an example for future achievements in various fields.

On the occasion of the holiday, the Chairman of the State Agency “Archives” Associate Professor. Dr Mikhail Gruev will present a distinction for contribution to the state archives of various individuals and institutions in several categories: “Donor”, “Reader”, and “Friend of the Archives” for 2022. Archivists in the types “Team of the Year – 2022” and “Employee of the Year – 2022, will be honoured.

With the exposition and awards, the State Agency Archives wants to establish its significant place and presence in Bulgaria’s cultural and public life, to which the Central State Archive has made a substantial contribution over the last 30 years as our richest documentary treasure.
