Central Elgin: Port Stanely Main Beach raises Blue Flag this Summer 2023

Port Stanely Main Beach has once again raised the Blue Flag this summer. The Municipality of Central Elgin extended their heartfelt pleasure and gratitude to all their staff members for contributing their efforts and maintaining a standard of excellence for protecting the Pristine Beaches.

As per the updates, last week, the Blue Flag was raised by the Councillor Halpin Beach Pavilion, marking the start of another fantastic beach season. The Municipality of Central Elgin shared that this is the 13th consecutive year their beloved main beach has received this prestigious recognition.

Port Stanley was the first beach on Lake Erie to be granted this outstanding award in 2010.

Further, the Municipality of Central Elgin also talked about what talked to receive such an honour and shared that to earn this designation, beaches must meet rigorous international standards in water quality, environmental management, education, safety, and services. Central Elgin has completed all 33 criteria.

Furthermore, While discussing the Blue Flag representation, the Municipality of Central Elgin shared that the blue colour signifies that our beach is clean and well-managed and upholds the highest safety standards. This flag serves as a powerful symbol of our commitment to sustainability and preserving our beautiful shoreline.

The Blue Flag program is administered by Swim Drink Fish Canada and internationally managed for Environmental Education (FEE).
