Chancellor Scholz congratulates cast & director of movie “ALL QUIET ON WESTERN FRONT for winning Oscars

German chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated the cast members and director of the movie ALL QUIET ON WESTERN FRONT for winning the Best International Film award on Sunday at the Oscars. This year, the movie received nine Oscar nominations.

Chancellor Scholz congratulated the film’s producers, cast and director through his Twitter account. In his tweet, he wrote, “Congratulations on four Oscars. It’s a huge success for German film, and one can rightly be proud of that! Especially in these difficult times, it shows unmistakably how terrible and inhuman war is”.

The 2022 German-language anti-war movie All Quiet on the Western Front is based on a novel written by Erich Maria Remarque in 1929, demonstrating the mercilessness and atrocities experienced by soldiers during the war.

Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Daniel Brühl, Sebastian Hülk, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanovic, and Devid Striesow are among the movie’s cast members directed by Edward Berger.

Paul Bäumer, a young German soldier, is the film’s subject. After joining the German Army with his friends, Bäumer experiences the harsh reality of war. Before joining the army for a little adventure, his early expectations of becoming a hero were shattered as he struggled to survive.

At the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, the film’s director, Edward Berger, congratulated Felix Kammerer, who was present on stage, for the award.

He was grateful to Felix for attempting to portray Paul Baumer and for portraying the challenges a soldier has on the battlefield so truthfully. It is the eighth non-English language film to be nominated for best picture and best international movie in the same year.

Along with Edward Berger and its cast for ‘All Quiet on Western Front, it was an unforgettable night for several film stars who received various awards at the Oscars 2023 or 95th Academy Awards Ceremony.
