The certificate was signed by Princess Anne, Elizabeth II’s daughter, who had accompanied her mother during her final hours.
Her eldest son, King Charles III, had arrived at Balmoral by midday, but her other sons Andrew and Edward, and Charle’s son William, did not arrive until late evening. William’s brother Harry did not arrive until much later.
The occupation box on the certificate reads ‘Her Majesty the Queen’ and Windsor Castle is listed as her ‘usual’ address, even though Buckingham Palace is usually the main residence of British monarchs.
