SpongeBob SquarePants’ huge success has resulted in a plethora of Internet memes focused on the show. Memes and viral videos have featured numerous quotes, scenes, and characters from the show. This page includes a list of well-known memes that are either really common or have been used by Nickelodeon:

A poem by Patrick Star

This is a scene from Patrick’s “Sing a Tune.” Patrick states in a flashback that he feels he’s written a poem before. Patrick is seen reading a poem in gym class as a child: “Roses are blue, violets are red, I have to go to the bathroom.” Since he read it in gym class, he burps, bows, and is pelted with dodgeballs.

“Are you feelin’ it now, Mr. Krabs?”

This is an excerpt from the book “Mid-Life Crustacean.” Mr. Krabs is asked whether he feels young again by SpongeBob and Patrick. The quotation is often remixed, repurposed, or revised to ask a particular character if they’re “feeling it.”

Nickelodeon created an official shirt based on the quote, which was sold at Hot Topic.

Big Fat Meanie

A scene from the film “New Student Starfish.” Patrick tosses SpongeBob a drawing of a very ugly obese-looking Mrs. Puff during class with the words “Big Fat Meanie”. When Mrs. Puff sees this, she imitates the drawing’s appearance. She exclaims, “As if I really look like this!” before putting the photo with other embarrassing images of herself in a drawer.

Patrick’s image and Mrs. Puff forming into such are usually replaced with various other items in the meme.

Breath in Boi

This is a collection of two photos from the Kah Rah Tay Contest online game. They show SpongeBob bending over and clasping his hands together. The photos are widely used as a reaction picture to different examples of people making bad decisions. There was even an official pin made out of this meme.

Burning Fish

During “Prehibernation Week,”  SpongeBob and Sandy are doing extreme activities. At high speed Sandy passes by a camper fish, causing him to burn. When people are in bad circumstances or have mental breakdowns, the picture is used to represent how they have become accustomed to it.
