India: Another drone attack was conducted by Pakistan at midnight in the fog when a Pakistani drone crossed the line of control and went inside Gurdaspur, a district of Punjab that shares border with Pakistan.

According to the reports, the drone controlled by Pakistan entered the Indian territory at midnight to take advantage of the fog. Currently, North India is struggling with the cold wave, and visibility is quite low due to fog.

Indian First line of control (BSF) Border Security Force fired more than 100 rounds when the drone was spotted, but it was almost impossible to take down the drone in the darkness and dense fog. After causing an intense disturbance in the territory, the drone returned to Pakistan.

It was a significant concern for India about the numerous drone strikes launched by Pakistan to cause instability in India, especially Punjab, an Indian state which shares its seven districts and 553 Kilometers with Pakistan. During the partition in 1947, when Pakistan was formed, Punjab was the biggest state in land and endured a significant loss due to the partition as a large part of the state was given to Pakistan.

Since 1947, numerous attempts have been attempted by Pakistan to cause instability in India by sending drones, weapons and drug substances through the borders of Punjab, which has major problems in the state.

The seven Punjab districts that share borders with Pakistan are Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Firozpur and Fazilka. Most of the terror activities conducted by Pakistan were recorded in Amritsar, Tarn taran and Gurdaspur, where the recent drone attack occurred.

According to the reports, 250 drone attacks have been performed in the past few months since the past few months, and 70 were knocked down by India’s first line of defence (BSF). Pakistan uses these drones to collect intel on the Indian army’s activities and to supply weapons and drugs in the region.

Due to these drone attacks frequently conducted by Pakistan, Punjab has suffered a lot. The weapon supplies in the territory have resulted in a significant increase in crime and gang war, which resulted in the deaths of various individuals in Punjab, especially young people.

The supply of drugs has caused the same impact on the youth of Punjab. Numerous casualties were observed in various districts of Punjab, especially Tarn Taran and Amritsar, as these regions are very close to Pakistan’s border.

The continuously increasing drug supplies from Pakistan spoiling the youth of Punjab has become an issue of worry and headache. Despite the Governments efforts to sabotage the supply chain, the situation keeps getting worse as it is anticipated that perpetrators and Illicit organisations from the Indian side were assisting Pakistan in moving the drug substances and weapons into India.

BSF has captured these smugglers and drones numerous times, but it’s still not enough to gain total control over the situation. The recent drone incident that occurred in Gurdaspur has raised worries for Indian defence forces as it may be a surveillance drone which gathered essential intel and went back.

Border security forces are on high alert to prevent another regional drone attack. It is essential to tighten the security around the borders with Pakistan to gain stability in Punjab and keep the region safe from terror attacks and smugglers.
