London: Laureus Sport for Good celebrates International Day Against Racism

The Laureus Sport for Good, PHILIP posted an update on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 related to celebrations of the International Day Against Racism worldwide; the Laureus Sport for Good shows that racism has no place in sports, in school and the sports club – in the entire life. The sport is so valuable in the fight against racism and discrimination.

Sport has a unique ability to unite people and allow them to work towards a common goal. It doesn’t matter what ethnic or cultural background people have. Through sports, people can connect on a human level and discover commonality that strengthens them.

Also, it is so important to use sports to promote diversity and fight against racism. Sports can encourage people to celebrate their differences instead of fearing them and helps to build a better future for all.

Reportedly, Laureus Sport for Good currently supports more than 200 programmes in more than 40 countries that use the power of sports to transform people with lives. Also, response to the South African anti-apartheid activist and politician Nelson Mandela’s challenge, which was issued in Monaco 2000 at the first Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco in 2000, that “sport has the power to change the world”, with the vision of using sport as one of the most powerful and cost-effective tools which aim to help children and people of young age against violence, discrimination and another disadvantage they faced
from the past 20 years.

The Laureus Sport for Good has raised about €150 million for the Sport and Development sector, together, they reached and helped to change the lives of almost 6 million children and young people. To achieve real impact on the ground, Laureus Sport for Good has focused its efforts and resource around those of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which they believe sports can most effectively be used to achieve.
