Kathmandu (Nepal): Three Nepalese women named Juna, Lalita and Rojita, who went abroad to Laos in order to find employment escaped from the country and returned home due to immense pressure put on them by their tough Chinese employers. As per ANI, they successfully returned to their motherland but felt unsafe.

They were drawn to Laos after being promised free meals and transport. When they arrived in Laos, the three Nepalese women were asked to work with fake identities on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp.

The three Nepalese women arrived back in Nepal on December 21 and installed a first Investigation statement at the anti-Human Trafficking Bureau Of Nepal Police.

They reported that their Chinese employers want them to defraud wealthy English-speaking individuals from the US, Australia, the UK, and Canada. The women worked every day from 11 p.m. to 10:30 a.m. without a nap and only a one-hour break at 4:30 a.m. It feels like a dungeon to work there in such a setting.

According to Lalita, who ANI quoted, “Those Chinese wanted us to do it every day even though we belonged to the Buddhist religion and had never lied to anyone in our lives.”

Following their refusal to meet their employer’s requirements, the Nepalese women accused their Chinese bosses of torturing them mentally. With help from their relatives and friends, they successfully escaped the centre.

On December 22, 2022, the authorities arrested two Chinese operatives following the report’s publication by the three Nepalese ladies. They were identified as Fujian native Ruan Chaohong, 33, and Chen Yang, 30, both from Sichuan, China. In the Central Jail in Sundhara, they are held under judicial supervision.

The three women didn’t find any comfort in the arrest of their Chinese bosses and their successful return home. They are getting threats of death.

Even though we made it out of there alive, Lalita claimed that “the Chinese are looking for us through their agents, perhaps to seek revenge as they feel we damaged their business by filing a police report.”

Malla, a representative for the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau, believes that over a dozen Nepalis are being held captive at the Laos contact centre. He stated, “We are currently looking into it and doing everything we can to save them.

Rajan, Lalita’s husband, is concerned that the Chinese operatives who tricked Lalita might at any moment be freed. He worried that those Chinese might complicate their lives by having connections to other Chinese and Nepali political figures.

Rajan, Lalita’s husband, is also concerned that the Chinese operatives would be connected to influential political figures in both China and Nepal and cause them problems in the coming days.
