Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, shared his gratitude and wished everyone to stay safe amid the carnival period and enjoy the time. The words were shared by the Prime Minister through social media by using his official account on Monday, 15 July. The leader of the island nation also highlighted the importance of such events in terms of growth.

In the post, the leader of the island nation also mentioned about the National Calypso Monarch Competition, which was organised at a grand stage, and praised all the winners and participants. PM Philip J Pierre marked his appearance in the carnival along with other ministers. The pictures of the grand event were also shared by the Prime Minister.

PM Philip J Pierre said while disclosing the impact of the event in his words, “I wish to congratulate all winners of our nationally staged competitions for their hard work and contribution to not just their respective art forms but for their role in growing the festival, which provides a major source of economic activity for small businesses.”

Prime Minister Pierre also shared a list of winners of the competition while congratulating them, where Dezral was crowned. The list mentioned Dezral on the top spot as Calypso Monarch, while the other competitor named Ernie J was marked as Inter-Commercial Calypso Monarch.

The list continues with other competitors who booked different tags for themselves in the grand competition. As per the list, Sly was titled Groovy Soca Monarch, and Ricky T was titled Power Soca Monarch. In order, Fusion Mas was titled as King of the Bands, Tribe of Twel as Queen of the Bands, Babonneau Steel Orchestra as Panorama Champions, Junior Calypso as Mongouge Primary School, and Junior Calypso as Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School.

Prime Minister Philip J Pierre was at the event along with other officials including Doctor Ernest Hilaire, the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia. The leader Saint Lucia also shown his gratitude towards the stakeholders, band owners, participants, and others for there contribution in this grand Carnival.

Philip J Pierre added in his words, “To all the participants of Saint Lucian Carnival, I thank you for your contributions. Yesterday, we hosted Kiddies Carnival, and for the next two days, we will host the Parade of the Bands. To all the stakeholders, revelers, and carnival band owners, I wish you a safe and enjoyable carnival.”
