PSG Crush Brest 7-0 to Storm into Champions League Last 16

Paris, France – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a ruthless performance on Wednesday, thrashing fellow French side Brest 7-0 at the Parc des Princes to seal a 10-0 aggregate victory in the Champions League play-offs.

The emphatic win secures their place in the tournament’s last 16, where they will face either Liverpool or Barcelona.

The dominant display was PSG’s largest-ever winning margin in a European competition, marking the first time they have scored seven goals in a Champions League match since their 7-1 triumph over Celtic in 2017.

Despite struggling in the early stages of the competition—scoring just three goals in their first five matches—the Parisians have since found blistering form, netting 21 times in their last five outings.

Rampant PSG Show No Mercy

Brest, making their debut European campaign, nearly took a surprise early lead when Mathias Pereira Lage’s effort was blocked by PSG captain Marquinhos. However, once the floodgates opened, there was no stopping Luis Enrique’s men.

Bradley Barcola set the tone in the 20th minute, controlling a lofted pass from Fabian Ruiz before drilling a shot past Brest goalkeeper Gregoire Coudert at the near post.

Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled the advantage just before halftime, tapping in a low Joao Neves cross. Neves himself nearly found the net moments later, rattling the crossbar with a powerful strike in stoppage time.

Brest’s slim hopes were extinguished in the second half as PSG ran riot. Vitinha made it 3-0 with a sublime finish from the edge of the area, before substitute Désiré Doué converted from a clever Gonçalo Ramos assist.

Nuno Mendes added a fifth with a simple tap-in, while Ramos turned scorer in the 76th minute with his ninth goal of the season.

The scoring concluded in the 86th minute when Kvaratskhelia provided an assist for 18-year-old Senny Mayulu, who calmly slotted home PSG’s seventh of the night. Brest managed a late consolation through Abdallah Sima, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

PSG Await Next Opponent in Knockout Stage

The victory underlines PSG’s growing confidence as they enter the decisive phase of the tournament. The French champions will learn their next opponent in Friday’s draw, with two European giants, Liverpool and Barcelona, as potential adversaries.

Brest, meanwhile, exit the competition in painful fashion. Their fairytale European adventure ended with their heaviest defeat, further extending their winless streak against PSG, which now spans 40 years.

Elsewhere, PSG’s former talisman Kylian Mbappé shone for Real Madrid, scoring a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory over Manchester City to send the reigning champions crashing out.

With their latest statement victory, PSG have cemented themselves as serious contenders for European glory, sending a clear warning to their upcoming opponents.
