In the early hours of Wednesday, a Russian missile strike on Kyiv caused widespread destruction, impacting six embassies, injuring 12 civilians, and damaging one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The embassies of Albania, Argentina, Palestine, North Macedonia, Portugal, and Montenegro, all housed in the same building, sustained significant damage. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi described the scene, citing shattered windows, broken doors, and damaged ceilings throughout the premises.
“This is an absolutely barbaric attack on diplomatic institutions,” Tykhyi stated. “Targeting diplomatic missions crosses all red lines and violates international norms. With such actions, Russia has once again confirmed its status as a barbarian state.”
While no foreign diplomatic staff were injured in the attack, local authorities confirmed that 12 civilians sustained injuries. The Ukrainian air defense system successfully intercepted all five ballistic missiles launched at the capital—believed to be Iskander-M or KN-23 models—but the resulting blast waves inflicted extensive damage on nearby structures.

The General Directorate for Servicing Diplomatic Missions is currently assessing the extent of the damage to the embassies.
