St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended his heartfelt pleasure to visit Kingstown, St Vincent and Grenadines recently to attend an event hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Republic of China (Taiwan) called “Improving Vegetable Cultivation Management and Post-harvest Handling Project”.

Reportedly, the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, was cordially invited to the event by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour of St Vincent and Grenadines.

He extended his heartfelt pleasure on receiving a warm welcome during the event. He also emphasized the need to increase Agricultural production to decrease the reliance on food importation.

As per him, the increase in agricultural production will hugely benefit the OECS regions. It will lower the need for imports and the food prices. It would also ensure abundant crops throughout the region.

Further, Prime Minister Dr Terrance also appreciated the farmers’ efforts and contributions to the Agricultural sector. He said, “I have an extraordinary place in my heart for farmers. I come from a family who works in the sugar industry; I put my hands from time to time because that is something I genuinely love”.

He also encouraged them to increase the crop production and make the nation independent. In his brief remarks, he also expressed to the farmers and other attendees that it is imperative to continue to increase the agricultural output to decrease our reliance on food importation.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance extended his pleasure to the Ministry of Agriculture of St Vincent and Grenadines and the Republic of China (Taiwan). He also thanked them for paying the warm welcome at the event and took particular time to look into the matter of food importation. “It has been a very productive visit thus far,” he asserted.
