Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis greeted all women living on the island on International Women’s day yesterday, March 8, 2023. Like the entire world, Saint Kitts and Nevis also celebrated International Women’s day under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.
On his social media account, Minister Drew posted a video in which he addressed all women of St. Kitts and Nevis, congratulating them on International Women’s day.
He stated that women are just as important to society as men are and that St. Kitts’ government is making a lot of effort to give women equal chances in the public sector.
On the occasion of Women’s Day, Prime Minister Terrance Drew suggested all women, noting that each woman on this island is crucial to the nation’s development and that it is important for them to seek the opportunities they have.
In her remarks, Prime Minister Drew wished all the women of St. Kitts and Nevis well and described the significant measures the government is taking to support women and embrace gender equality. As the entire world celebrated International Women’s Day, he greeted every woman with pleasure.
PM Drew draws attention to Ms Sheryl Sandberg’s philosophy as a supporter and executive of mainstream technology. He said that the entire St. Kitts and Nevis government agrees with Ms Sandberg.
She once remarked that we need women at all levels, including the top, “to change the dynamic, reshape the debate, and to ensure that women’s opinions are heard and heeded, not disregarded and ignored.”
According to Wikipedia, Sandberg is an American technology executive, philanthropist, and author who founded Lean In and served as a chief operating officer of Meta Platforms.
According to PM Drew, the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party administration believes that gender parity in all areas must be given due attention because women hold considerable soft talents that are relevant to economic success and play a crucial part in the overall development of the Federation.
UN Women claims that women make up only 22% of artificial intelligence employees worldwide. Due to a continuous gender gap in the field, women cannot fully exploit technology. PM Drew stressed that this issue needs to be resolved so that the world will take notice and give women a chance to show off their full potential.
