YouTube’s iOS app is finally getting picture-in-picture!

YouTube is bringing a long-anticipated characteristic to its iPhone application: picture-in-picture (PiP). All Premium subscribers will shortly have access to the viewer, and YouTube announces it intends to facilitate PiP for all iOS users in the US.

“Picture-in-Picture enables users to view YouTube videos in a tiny mini player while concurrently browsing outside of the YouTube app on their smart device,” according to a YouTube spokesperson. “We’re beginning to roll out PiP for YouTube Premium members on iOS, and preparing to begin PiP for all US iOS users as well.”

The tech giant took PiP to iPhone last year as part of iOS 14. However, many video streaming applications already back the PIP, including Netflix, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV.

Even though it has supports PiP on Android since 2018, YouTube had been a well-known adversary on iOS until it developed heart, which MacRumors first announced.

Some iOS users discovered workarounds to view YouTube through PiP. For instance, it has seldom operated via the YouTube mobile site, and some people have located it through Alternatives.

Regrettably, You Tube hasn’t announced the timeline for the PiP rollout, but ultimately, those workarounds will no longer be required.

PiP assistance on the You Tube application is long delayed, and it’s pleasing to understand that it won’t be just for Premium members, at least in the US. Nevertheless, people are looking forward to hitting back and seeing chaotic Overwatch League rivals on a mini player while browsing opinions on Twitter.

Apple continued support for picture-in-picture video for iPads with iOS 9 and offered it for iPhones with iOS 14. Nevertheless, since then, You Tube’s backing for the characteristic on iPhones and iPads has been irregular — it operates for iPad if you’re using Safari (though some have stated it doesn’t run for non-Premium subscribers); iPhone users have only been able to work with the characteristic rhythmically.
