Australia: German Embassy mourns over 1998 Germany’s largest ICE train accident

The German Embassy in Australia recognised the largest railway accident in Germany around 25 years ago on the same date, i.e., on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Eschede town. The ICE train named “Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen” derailed due to a broken rim and collided with a bridge, in which about 101 people lost their lives and 119 suffered from various injuries.

The Embassy shared the information on their social media handle and expressed deep condolences to the families hugely affected by the incident. As per the news, the train incident occurred on Wednesday, June 3, 2023, in Eschede town in Germany. The ICE train was named “Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen”, which was derailed due to a broken rim and collided with a bridge, in which about 101 people lost their lives and 119 suffered from various injuries.

The Embassy also shared some glimpses on their social media handle about the largest incident that has taken many lives and caused several damages and injuries. Remembering the incident, The Embassy felt deeply sorrowful and grief and expressed their deepest condolences to the people who were deeply affected by this tragic incident.

Further, the Embassy also expressed their gratitude and honoured the victims and their friends and families solace amid this emotional anniversary.

Notably, This is the second largest train accident that has taken many things away from the lives of people, including themselves own, and has made a record of the world’s most significant and most tragic train incident after Germany’s 1939 incident, It was an ICE train on the Hannover-Hamburg railway near Eschede in Lower Saxony that derailed and crashed into a sudden overpass that crossed the railroad, and then collapsed into the train, there were around One hundred-one people were killed, and at least 88 were injured.
