Belgium Embassy in Abu Dhabi announces provision of OSZ to Europeans

The Embassy of Belgium in Abu Dhabi announced the provision of the Overseas Social Security (OSG) facility to the Europeans who work as expats outside voluntary Belgian social security coverage on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

The Embassy in Abu Dhabi took to their Social Media on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, announced to provide the Overseas Social Security (OSZ) to the Europeans, a legal system anchored in the Belgian social security system. The Overseas Social Security includes an insurance policy or any other basic package. We can include Overseas Social Security with other supplementary insurance policies like Medical Care and Workplace accidents.

The Embassy in Abu Dhabi shares that the OSZ offers Europeans who work as expats outside Europe voluntary social security coverage; with the OSZ, the expats continue to build up their pensions and are also insured of their incomes in the event of illness or an accident. They are entitled to reimbursement of their medical costs anywhere in the world.  

The Basic Overseas Social Security provides the basic package of the General policies that come up with it. The general basic policy of OSZ is as follows:

The OSZ protection closely adheres to the Belgian mandatory social security scheme:

• Build up a pension
• Receive benefits in case of incapacity for work, disability and maternity leave.
• Reimburse your medical expenses according to the RIZIV rates from a certain age and at least 16 years of contribution payments.

The Complimentary policies of OSZ include medical care and workplace and personal life accidents. The Complimentary policies of OSZ in Medical are:

Get medical expenses reimbursed from the moment we affiliate.

For medical expenses in Belgium:

• As an individual: RIZIV rates
• Affiliated via employer: up to a maximum of 100% of the bill

For medical expenses abroad:

• 75% reimbursement for RIZIV expenses
• worldwide
• no annual limit
• also for dependent family members

The Accidental policies in OSZ are as follows:

Opt solely for Workplace accident insurance, or combine it with the Accidents in private life insurance. They provide cover for:

• medical costs
• transportation costs
• repatriation costs
• incapacity for work
