China brokering surprise deal sending shock waves to Iran and Saudi Arabia

China broke a surprise peace deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia on Saturday, March 11, 2023. The Representatives of the estranged Middle Eastern nations emerged from a meeting in Beijing with an agreement to reopen the embassies and other long-severed ties on which China’s top diplomat Wang Yi said, “This is a victory for dialogue, a victory for peace, offering major good news at a time of much turbulence in the world,”

The news of china brokering a surprise deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia is now sending shock waves through geopolitical circles—both for the unexpected peace breakout and for the revelation to bring up the warring sides together.

As per the sources, the two countries had agreed to “respect the state’s sovereignty and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, ” echoing Chinese principles to respect neighbouring countries, concerns, and their borders.

The Former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett described the peace deal as a “serious and dangerous” development, as the pact, cut by China’s foremost diplomat Wang Yi, has led to enormous implications.

These implications are :

First, The aid workers hope it could be the beginning of the end of a brutal proxy war as the two powers are fighting in Yemen in which one is which has caused more than 150,000 deaths in one of the poorest nations on earth since 2014.

Second, it could give Iranians hope for an active role in the region, in place of their current position, isolated and suffering under a long string of US-led sanctions.

Third, it shows that Saudi Arabia has realized that it no longer needs to follow the lead of the west and can make independent decisions on how to deal with the world.

Fourth, it shows that the Chinese peace strategy, which focuses on respect for concerns and maintenance of communication, can work and end the conflict in Ukraine.

Officially, the White House has said to approve the deal. However, analysts admit that the news is a blow to the west, which has long demonized Iran, rained sanctions on it as an “enemy” nation, interfered in Middle Eastern politics, sold billions of dollars worth of weapons for use in Yemen, and vetoed talks-based solutions as resolutions to conflicts with countries perceived as U.S. enemies.

American leaders now openly admit that the war in Europe is favourable for them; Mitt Romney, a senator, on Monday, March 6, 2023, said, “Weakening an adversary enhances their national security, which is an advantage for them without shedding of the American blood.”

For the same reason, some leaders in the U.S. want a war with China, with the Taiwanese playing Ukraine’s role. China’s high level of patience has made this difficult to achieve. However, people worldwide will still see the peace breaking out in the Middle East as a good thing, potentially alleviating enormous suffering in Iran and Yemen.
