COVID pandemic may be within reach of end this year, Guterres claim

The pandemic of the viral infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 could face its end by 2022, and the world is within reach of the end of the pandemic, claimed by the United Nations chief António Guterres on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

While emphasising the situation, the Chief of the United Nations António Guterres took to Twitter and cited that the end of the pandemic is within reach of the world and asserted,” Ending this pandemic can be within reach”.

He further pointed out the reason behind this claim and underlined that the vaccination drive has ramped up across the globe very efficiently, and the countries have acted actively with the right resources.

” Ending this pandemic can be within reach. Recent progress in vaccine distribution shows how we can deliver when we act together, with the right resources”, underscored the United Nations chief.

The action in the right direction has provided a credible and coordinated result against the viral infection caused by the novel coronavirus and mentioned, “The ACT-Accelerator provides a credible, coordinated, and costed path out of the pandemic”.

On the other hand, the United Nations also took to Twitter and given the plan that how it could be possible.

While talking about it, United Nations reiterated,” We have the pathway to get there, and we could end the pandemic this year. But we can only get there together”.

Moreover, the United Nations asserted that the world leaders have joined the project and called for $23 billion to support the global vaccine equity partnership.

The UN chief was among world leaders calling for $23 billion to support the ACT-Accelerator, the landmark collaboration that makes these goods accessible to everyone globally.

The ACT-Accelerator was launched in April 2020, just weeks after the COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. With the project, United Nations wants to speed up the growth and permit COVID-19 tests, treatments and vaccines. The global vaccine solidarity initiative known as COVAX is one of the major four pillars.

Vaccine inequity is something which has the biggest moral failure of our times – and people are paying the price, said Mr Guterres.

Until and unless we could ensure access to these tools, the pandemic would not getaway, and the feeling of insecurity of people would only worsen, asserted the Chief of the United Nations.
