Dominica: PM Skerrit met David Rutley, discussed climate changing concerns

Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, and MP David Rutley, the FCDO Minister for the Americas and Caribbean, had a conversation in Roseau, Dominica. The leaders’ discussion focused on the creative climate funding between the two nations.

With the help of social media, the prime minister thanked the MP. As the post wrote, he said, ” I was happy to meet MP @DavidRutley, FCDO Minister for the Americas & Caribbean”.

The post further mentioned, “We discussed numerous concerns, including innovative climate financing and bilateral partnership between the UK and Dominica,” before summarising the subjects covered.

The Dominica Prime Minister’s Office also provided the information. Roosevelt Skerrit, the prime minister of Dominica, met with David Rutley, the minister of foreign affairs for the Commonwealth and the Americas and the Caribbean, according to the posted information about the meeting.

This meeting is crucial in Dominica’s journey to become climate adaptable. The Commonwealth of Dominica’s administration has been attempting to provide the groundwork for a sustainable future.

The nation has consistently handled unfavourable weather circumstances successfully, and it is leading the fight against climate change.

Many people believe global warming is mostly to blame for the country’s numerous natural disasters. In the Caribbean area, both the intensity and frequency of natural disasters have grown. Irma and Maria, two terrible hurricanes, have hit the country.

Almost 75% of the population was impacted by the hurricanes’ terrible aftermath, either directly or indirectly. During the UNGA, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit boldly pledged that he would seek to make Dominica the first nation in the world to be climate resilient.

Since then, the country has experienced growth and development in practically every industry, including housing, education, and health. It is important to note that Dominica has always had the backing and funding it needed from the United Kingdom.
