Dominica to build new cruise ship facility

The island nation Dominica is heading towards adding a new cruise ship facility while keeping the sector important for economic growth. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, is working to finalize the agreement for on-ground development.

The information was shared with the public by Denise Charles Pemberton in her recent appearance in front of the media. Denise Charles Pemberton is in the cabinet of PM Skerrit and holds the position of the Minister of Tourism for Dominica.

The approach of the government for a new cruise ship facility was shared by Minister Denise during the event of Cruise Stakeholders Symposium. The event was held at the Goodwill Parish Hall, where Charles Pemberton was also part of the gathering.

The information came out while Minister Denise was sharing her words in relation to the point of focus at the Cruise Stakeholders Symposium. She mentioned the condition of the current cruise port infrastructure in Dominica and the necessity of development.

While sharing her remarks in front of the gathering, she highlighted the aging condition of the Roseau ship facility. Currently, Roseau is the major spot for Dominica to host the big ships and cruises, but it is not sufficient for the future vision and expectations of the government.

The government is looking forward to building a significant port facility in the region that could accommodate the growing size of vessels and more cruise ships. The new cruise port also needed to be developed with world-class facilities.

The government of Dominica is considering building infrastructure to host more cruise ships on the country’s shores for some time, on which the update is given now officially. It was said that the new infrastructure would provide the ships and cruises with all kinds of facilities available around the globe.

As per the Tourism Minister, the congestion disclosed will led to a sub-optimal experience for the visiting ships and cruises. She said, “I am excited to announce that the government is getting closer to finalizing an agreement for the development of a new cruise facility.”

She added, “I know you are saying you are hearing that often, and we keep mentioning it, but we are getting closer and very, very close. This new facility will feature modern amenities and the capacity to accommodate larger vessels, meaning more guests and more opportunities.”

Denise Charles Pemberton continued after taking about the job growth in Dominica with programe and mentioned, “Of course, this will take time to complete. In the meantime, we plan to extend the pier in Roseau as the first phase of our infrastructure upgrade.”
