The Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa and the Diplomatic Community, High representatives of the South African Government, Ukrainians in South Africa and their friends and partners celebrated the 32nd Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence on Monday, August 28, 2023.
Several delegations, including the embassy members and the Ukrainian Ambassadors from the Republic of South Africa, attended the event. The ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa, Liubiv Abravitora, emphasized Ukraine’s strong will and courage to fight against Russia.
In her address, Her Excellency Liubov Abravitova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa, emphasized the significance of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom and democracy. She invited the guests to observe a moment of silence for the civilian population of Ukraine and the military who died in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Further, the Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of South Africa also appreciated the attendance of their event by the high representatives of the South African government and the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr. Blade Nzimande, as the Guest of Honor, who spoke about the further development of the relationship between Ukraine and South Africa.
For the opening of our Ceremony, the national anthems of Ukraine and SA were performed by the Bokamoso Art Institute Choir, in partnership with a non-profit organization MIAGI – “Music is a Great Investment”.
The dance performance “We Stand for Freedom” was presented by the Ukrainian Association of SA president and choreographer Kateryna Aloshyna and a team of South African artists.
At last, The Embassy extended their pleasure and thanked everyone who joined them and added glitters to it and those who made this significant event possible due to the sponsorship and donations.
