Germany has reported a surge of COVID-19 pandemic due to the new infection strain called Omicron as a total of 80,430 people were exposed to the deadly virus on Wednesday. As per the Robert Koch Institute, the country’s national disease control agency, 384 people have lost their lives due to viral infection over the past 24 hours.
With the emergence of new deaths in the country, the death toll of the country now stands at around 115,000; on the other hand, the number of cases reported in mid-November was 65,000.
Health officials and policymakers in the country are looking for ways to work accordingly so that the transmission of the viral infection could be curtailed. By tightening the protection measures or making a low hospitalisation rate would be the prior solution to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and its contagious variants such as Omicron in the upcoming weeks.
Health Experts of Germany asserted that country is primarily focused on vaccinating vulnerable people, on giving access to the third booster shots as well, as will keep ramping up the vital facilities such as hospitals amid a rise in sickness levels across the workforce.
While emphasising the significance of vaccination, the President of Germany named Frank-Walter Steinmeier cited,” there were certain opinions on the vaccine, but now the fact is that many who had previously rejected the idea of the immunisation were now approving it, and a thorough debate was necessary”.
He further urged people that vaccination is the main solution to curtail the pandemic, so everyone should be fully immunised with the WHO-approved vaccine against the COVID-19 virus.
