Search operations for missing submarine in Indonesia

Rescue and search operations for missing submarine with 53 crew members. KRI Nanggala 402 went missing in the last dive in training off the coast in Bali. Some naval researchers believe the vessels have to dive too deep to reach or recover in time. Indonesian join hands with Australia and the US in search missions until the last day of oxygen is still left for 53 crew members.

“We will maximize the effort today, until the time limit tomorrow at 3 a.m.,” military spokesperson Maj. Gen. Achmad Riad told reporters.

The Rescue Operation For Missing Submarine

24 Indonesian ships and patrol planes hunted the sea near the Bali coast, searching for submarines that went missing. They traced the oil trail left behind by the missing vessel. According to the US Naval Institute, several countries, including Singapore, India, and Srilanka, immediately joined the search operations.

Indonesian sub’s crew oxygen dwindles as worries grow.

Navy Chief of Staff Adm. Yudo Margono clarified that the marine is low on fuel as some has leaked from the vessel or crew members have spilled to reduce the weight. Their been a massive search going on for the past two days, hoping to see the sign of life.

An Australian warship arrived on Friday to continue the search operations. It has the sonar device and a helicopter set to help in operations. Several warships from Malaysia and Singapore have arrived to help Indonesian marines in rescuing the missing submarine.

“These two Australian ships will help expand the search area and extend the duration of search effort,” Australian Navy Rear Adm. Mark Hammond said.

Helping Hand From Every Nation

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has ordered all the support possible in rescuing the stricken submarine as soon as possible. He says they will make every attempt to save the 53 crew members.

“Our main priority is the safety of 53 crew members,” Widodo said in a televised address on Thursday. “To the family of the crew members, I can understand your feelings, and we are doing our best to save all crew members on board.”

Earlier today, a naval vessel has detected a solid magnetic resonance under the dept of about 50 to 100 meters, and all the experts are hoping to find the missing submarine. The Navy has not specified the reason behind the disappeared marine. Still, there could be an electric failure or something else that could have led the marines to follow an emergency procedure.
