Norway: PM Gahr Støre sympathize the Denmark shooting victims, deceased

A gunman opened fire inside a busy shopping mall in the Danish capital Sunday, killing three people and critically wounding three others. 

The Norweigan Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has critically stressed the sudden shooting and the loss of the deceased families and the people with critical injuries.

The police informed that the suspect had been caught at the place of crime, Copenhagen mall, and he has been identified as a mental health patient.  

“Our suspect is also known among psychiatric services; beyond that, I do not wish to comment,” Copenhagen police chief Soren Thomassen told a news conference on Monday.

While referring to the shooting, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre noted on his official Facebook social media account that :

“Three people have been killed, four are critically injured, and very many have been inflicted with grief, fear and traumatic memories from when the shopping trip turned into a nightmare in Copenhagen last night.” 

Further, PM Støre noted the victims and people who were rushing to save their loved ones. 

“My thoughts are with the victims, their relatives and all those who are currently working to save lives and keep the population safe.”

PM Støre also had some words with Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen to express compassion and offer the Danish authorities all the help they needed.

“The shooting in Denmark took place just over a week after the attack in Oslo, and I know that many are now scared and anxious. My message is that we do everything we can to keep us safe.” 

The police and PST are at work this summer for the safety of Norwegians. This is the most important task for the government at any time. And then each of us must take care of those around us and extend a hand to those who are now extra scared.

There is still a lot we don’t know about why the perpetrators in Oslo and Copenhagen committed the terrible acts, but regardless of the motive and background, our answer must be clear: We stand together in the face of violence and hatred. 

We are strengthened in our faith in community and love. And we are strengthening the work of creating safe communities that prevent mental illness and radicalization and the commitment of police and defence that can stop threats and attacks.
