Royal Palace in capital’s centre will open its gates as part of Urban Trail Brussels event

For the first time, the Royal Palace in the capital’s centre will open up its gates and doors as part of the Urban Trail Brussels running event.

On Sunday, 26 June, runners will be able to enter through the gates into the Palace itself and its gardens. The Royal Palace will be the highlight of the Liantis Urban Trail Brussels, with the route taking participants along and through a number of the most prominent buildings and locations in the Brussels city centre.

The event has two courses: one of 7 km or one of 12 km. The route passes by the Brussels Beer Project in Rue Antoine Dansaert and Cinema Galeries. Both routes start and end in the Marché aux Poissons.

“The whole idea revolves around a special running experience, off the beaten track, in an urban environment,” organisers explain in a statement. “This is highly recommended for anyone who loves culture and is not afraid of a sporting challenge.”

The event also runs in other Belgian cities, including Antwerp, Ghent, Mons and Namur, and opens doors to spaces and places that are not normally accessible.
