St Kitts & Nevis: PM Dr Terrance Drew presents payments to retired GAE’s at ceremony

St Kitts & Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, along with the Cabinet Members and Senior official members of the various departments, presented payments to the retired Government Auxiliary Employees’ significant ceremony held at the NEMA Conference Room on Monday, June 12, 2023.

While presenting the payments to the Government Auxiliary Employees who have retired after serving ten years as the Government of St Kitts & Nevis, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended his sincere pleasure and gratitude on his social media handle recently to share about the contributions of the Government Auxiliary Employees towards the progress and development of the Nation.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, while addressing the commitments and contributions of Government Auxiliary Employees, shared that these are one of the fundamental pillars that informed the Labour Party Government’s dedication to implement policies to advance the people of the Nation.

The Prime Minister also shared some glimpses from the retirement ceremony held at the Nema Conference Room on Monday, June 12, 2023, where he addressed the contributions of the Government Auxiliary employees made during the ten years of their long service and presented them with payments.

He also highlighted that earlier in 2021, the end-of-tenure gratuity that rewarded the workers for their years of sterling service was discontinued by the former government. Meanwhile, the government immediately recognized the hardship this presented and took the necessary steps to rectify this unjust practice.

He shared that on May 11, 2023, the Federal Cabinet formalized gratuity payments to Government Auxillary Employees using the long service payment, which awards workers who served at least ten years.

At Last, Prime Minister Dr Terrance, while ensuring to value their workers for their contributions, shared that “We are committed to ensuring that our workers are valued for their contributions and are provided with fair compensation, whether retired or still with us. We all play a vital role in the progression and development of our Nation.”
