Ukrainian Gromoda of Wellington participates in International Celebration Day

The Ukrainian Gromoda of Wellington had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the International Celebration Day organized by GNS Science in Lower Hutt this week.

Reportedly, the Ukrainian Gromoda of Wellington is a Non-Profit organization that aims to promote and encourage the Ukrainian Culture in New Zealand.

Previously, the Ukrainian Gromoda of Wellington participated in the International Celebration Day organized by the GNS Science in Lower Hutt.

Ukrainian Gromoda of Wellington had the incredible opportunity to have the fantastic experience of joining hands with fellow nations such as Italy, Philippines, India, South Africa, Samoa, and Canada in celebrating our diverse cultures and traditions.

The event was a delightful showcase of the Ukrainian cultural heritage, with tables brimming with traditional national foods that made their taste buds dance.

They said they had enjoyed everything from bright red borshch to the irresistible honey cake, potato pancakes, poppy buns, and varenyky (dumplings).

Further, they also shared that their efforts were noticed, too. The Ukrainian honey cake proudly received the “Best Dessert Certificate” at the event, a sweet testament to the rich flavours of our culture.

Apart from Food, they also shared that each country had information boards sharing the highlights of their homeland. The Ukrainian Gromoda also had an excellent opportunity to shed light on the ongoing struggles in Ukraine and the importance of global support during these trying times.

In addition, GNS Science’s dedicated team of employees organized a bake sale within the company, successfully raising a generous amount that will be used to help Ukrainians who came to New Zealand after the start of the war.

The Ukrainian Gromoda extended their pleasure and thanked the organizers for their generosity and compassion. “We’re grateful to have been a part of this celebration of unity and diversity. Together, we can make a difference, and events like these remind us that our community is a warm and welcoming place,” they asserted.

Previously, the Ukrainian Gromoda Wellington also had the immense privilege of being invited to lunch with Grzegorz Kowal, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to New Zealand.

They shared that Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal has consistently shown himself to be a loyal and dedicated friend of the Ukrainian Gromada of Wellington.

Their time together was filled with enlightening conversations, genuine camaraderie, and a shared commitment to strengthening the ties between our two Slavic nations.

During their lunch, the Ukrainian Gromoda and Ambassador Grzegorz had the pleasure of exchanging their opinions on the current situation in Poland and Ukraine.

“It was heartening to find common ground and share ideas for future collaboration and joint efforts,” they added.

Furthermore, they shared, “Our shared heritage, values, and aspirations provide a strong foundation for meaningful cooperation that can benefit both our nations.”

At last, the Ukrainian Gromoda thanked Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal for his warm hospitality, friendship, and unwavering support.

“We look forward to many more opportunities to work together and strengthen the bonds between our communities,” they added.
