US Embassy in Nassau, The Bahamas, welcomes Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday

The United States Embassy in Nassau, The Bahamas, are pleasured to welcome the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, in Nassau, The Bahamas, on Thursday, June 8, 2023. and thanked the Embassy Staff and all the volunteers who were there to maintain the decorum of the event and were first to arrive and last to leave.

As per the update shared by the United States Embassy, Participants at this historic event included organisations focused on advancing human rights and empowering marginalised groups.

The US Embassy collaborated with these organisations, which focus on advancing human rights and empowering marginalised groups, highlighted President Joe Biden’s Administration priorities, including Pride Bahamas, to commemorate the trials faced by the LGBTQI+ community and celebrate the triumphs of trailblazing individuals who continue to fight for equality.

Meanwhile, the participatory organisations that have made significant contributions to promoting and empowering marginalised groups have stressed down over the following communities and sectors.

As per the reports shared, Zonta Bahamas presented to support the United Nations’ annual support for “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”; STRAW Inc. Center for Young Women to help underserved women and girls; Rise Bahamas presented to promote equal access to opportunities for Bahamian women;

Happy Tots Academy presented to fill educational gaps and provide essential services to vulnerable communities, including stateless people;

One Eleuthera Foundation promotes health and wellness among women, particularly on less developed islands.

While presenting their efforts and contributions, the following organisations were assembled to welcome Vice President Harris, the organisations working to build climate resilience by planting mangroves, providing marine science education, and protecting this country’s wealth of natural resources, including some of the world’s most extensive coral reefs were also there. They include The Bahamas National Trust, which manages 32 national parks across the 700 islands of The Bahamas.

Following the event, The US Embassy in Nassau, The Bahamas, confessed their pleasure and gratitude to the team involved in to made the event go successful, thanked the Embassy staff and also thanked Gail Travis Photography, remarking as they were the first to arrive and the last to leave.
