Belgium Embassy in USA expresses pleasure to take in screening of Lola & the Sea movie

The Embassy of Belgium in the United States of America extended their pleasure to take part in the screening of Lola & the Sea, a movie by Belgium Filmmaker Laurent Micheli and actress Mya Bollaers in Partnership with the European Union in the United States and Capital Pride.

While expressing their pleasure to the Filmmakers, the Embassy of Belgium in the United States took to their official social media handle to express their honour and support the movie ” Lola & the Sea” by Belgian filmmaker Laurent Micheli and actress Mya Bollaers in partnership with the European Union in the United States. The Embassy added, “Pride Month celebrations continue. We were thrilled to participate in last night’s screening of ‘𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗮 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮’, a movie by Belgian filmmaker Laurent Micheli and actress Mya Bollaers, in partnership with European Union in the United States and Capital Pride!”

Post the event, the Embassy also shared some glimpses on their social media handle, meeting with the delegates and filmmakers of “Lola & the Sea.”

Following the screening, Deputy Chief of Mission Sophie Karlshausen joined Director of Trans Pride Washington DC Bianca Humady Rey and Michael Lavers, International News Editor of the Washington Blade, for a panel on diversity and rights.

As per the Update, the event was opened by the Ambassador of the European Union to the United States, Stavros Lambrinidis, U.S. Special Envoy for LGBTQI+ Rights, Jessica Stern and Capital Pride Alliance Board President Ashley Smith.

Further, the Embassy shared that ‘Lola & the Sea’ explores the complexities of grief, identity and family ties through the story of a young trans woman and her estranged father who threw her out of the family home.

At last, The Belgium Embassy in the United States of America expressed their pleasure and especially Thanked Goethe-Institut Washington for hosting and everyone who attended this incredible event celebrating LGBTQ+ stories and fostering dialogue.
