Bulgaria: Ambassador of Italy in Sofia honours with title Flame of Mollov in Plodiv

The Ambassador of Italy in Sofia, H.E. Giuseppina Zarra, was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The Rector of the University, Prof., gave her the title Flame of Mollov. The award ceremony took place during a solemn meeting of the Academic Senate, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the University of Food Technologies.

The academic title was conferred to the Ambassador of Italy in Sofia, H.E. Giuseppina Zarra, for her contribution to the development of bilateral relationships between representatives of the academic community and the Italian business context and the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv.

On the initiative of Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra, the University of Food Technologies participates in a series of professional forums and seminars organized by the Embassy of Italy in Sofia in collaboration with
Confindustria Bulgaria and Federalimentare, including representatives, are leading companies in the food and wine industry.

In addition, Ambassador Zarra is actively promoting the educational and scientific initiatives of the University of Food Technologies so that it can be recognized internationally as a renowned academic pole in the field of food sciences.

In her speech of gratitude, Ambassador Zarra emphasized the need to defend food culture as a source of well-being and a moment of sharing and exchange, to safeguard the wealth and diversity of food that reflect the richness and diversity of the territory and traditions, as well as to develop an ethical food culture. He also stressed that Italy promotes an articulated food labelling system based on complete and correct information with this objective, the NutrInform Battery.

A special guest of the Academic Senate was writer Dimitar Nedkov. There were also present the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Plovdiv, Giuseppe De Francesco, the President of the Confederation of Bulgaria, Roberto Santorelli, former professors of the University of Food Technologies, current professors, students and ambassadors from other countries.
On May 23, 2023, Italy’s envoy in Sofia N. B.C. Giusepina Dzara was awarded the title of “Doctor Honoris Cause” at Университет по хранителни технологии – Plovdiv. The ceremony took place during the solemn meeting of the Academic Council dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UHT. The title was presented by the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr Plamen Mallov.

The academic title was awarded to Ambassador Dzara for her contribution to developing bilateral relations between representatives of the Italian scholarly community and business environment and the University of Food Technology Plovdiv.

On the initiative of Ambassador Giuzepina Dzara UHT-Plovdiv participated in a series of professional forums and seminars organized by the Embassy of Italy in Sofia in cooperation with Federalimentare and Confindustria Bulgaria, whose representatives are leading companies in the food and wine sector. In addition, Ambassador Dzara actively contributes to the popularization of the Food Technologies University’s educational and scientific initiatives so that UHT is internationally recognized as a reputed academic centre in the field of food sciences.

In her thank you speech, Ambassador Dzara stressed the need to protect food culture as a source of well-being and a moment of sharing and exchange, from preserving the wealth and diversity of food that reflect the richness and diversity of the territory and traditions and developing a correct nutrition culture.

She also emphasized that it was for this purpose that Italy initiated a detailed food labelling system based on complete and accurate information – NutrInform Battery.
