Bulgarian Cultural Institute in London honours Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius

The Bulgarian Cultural Institute in London organized a special celebration in honour on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 – the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, and of Georgi Gospodinov and the prestigious Booker Prize, with which his novel “Time Refuge” was excellent in Angela Rodel’s perfect translation at the Grand Hall of the Royal Geographic Society in London.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture took to their official social media handle on Sunday, May 28, 2023, and shared that the Bulgarian Cultural Institute organized a special celebration on the Day of the Holy Brother’s Cyril and Methodius on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Royal Ministery of Culture in London, as per the update, the two brothers got the prestigious award of Booker Prize, with which his novel “Time Refuge.” The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture also shared some glimpses from the event, where the Bulgarian Cultural Minister was seen celebrating the event with all other Bulgarian Ministries.

The Bulgarian Cultural Ministery shared that the celebration was held at the Grand Hall of the Royal Geographic Society in London, which had 700 seats and was undersized for spectators, many of whom watched the programme standing.

The Bulgarian Ministry further shared that the audience erupted in applause at the entry of Gospodinov and Rodel, who – as greetings in Bulgarian to everyone on the holiday of their alphabet, also sang a Bulgarian folk song.

The Bulgarian Ministry also shared about that this excellent program featured prominent Bulgarian musicians Svetlin Rusev, Teodosiy Spasov, and Boyan Ivanov, as well as the string quartet from Hastings. They presented works by Dobrinka Tabakova, Pancho Vladigerov, Peter Hristosov, Teodosiy Spasov and others.
During Teodosiy Spasov’s performances, the English part of the audience was trying to find out the uneven rhythms.
