France donates shipments of Pfizer vaccine to Jamaica

A total of 1 319,978 doses of the vaccine called Pfizer against the viral infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 have been donated by the government of France with the help of the COVAX facility to Jamaica on Monday, February 7, 2022.

While informing about the step, Dr Christofer Tufton, a Minister of Health and Wellness of Jamaica, took to Twitter and exclaimed that the country had accepted the donation of the vaccine of Pfizer against the novel coronavirus by France.

Dr Tufton informed that, in the total vaccines, around 667,791 were the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine; on the other hand, 546,097 were the second doses of the vaccine against the viral infection provided by the government of France to regulate and enhance the COVAX facility to Jamaica.

In addition to that, a total of 83,050 doses of the vaccine were single, while 2,110 Immunocompromised doses and 20,930 were the booster shots of the vaccine called Pfizer against the COVID-19 virus, as per Dr Tufton.

While thanking about the donation, the ministry of Health and Wellness of Jamaica expressed,” We are really thankful for the donation by France as this will help us to curtail the deadly viral infection caused by the novel coronavirus“.

It further emphasised the significance of the vaccination against the COVID-19 and cited,” The critical component to containing the novel coronavirus is the administration of the vaccines. It further reduces the severity and also impacted that virus has had on not just our health, but our social and economic well-being”.

Apart from this, COVAX is known as the third pillar, which accesses the tools of the COVID-19, launched in April to combat the transmission of the viral infection caused by the novel coronavirus.

The main of the COVAX is to provide equitable and innovative access to the treatments, diagnostics and vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic. The prime focus of the pillar is to ensure that people across the globe get vaccinated against the infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 and get secured from the infection.

So, the government of France have donated the Pfizer vaccine to Jamaica to strengthen the COVAX campaign and vaccinate everyone on the earth against the COVID-19 pandemic.
