On Saturday, January 23, 2022, a 75-year-old French adventurer had lost his life while attempting to solo row across the Atlantic Ocean.
The adventurer named Jean Jacques Sarvin, who wanted to laugh at old age, was found dead in his cabin, as per the support team.
On Friday, January 22, 2022, Portuguese Coast guards had located the Jean’ an overturned boat named Audacious off the archipelago of the Azores.
Further, his team informed that they sent a driver on Saturday to search for him. The maritime rescue service found former paratroopers lifeless inside his cabin.
The avid triathlete set off from the southern tip of mainland Portugal on the westward voyage on January 1, 2022. It was expected that he would take around three months to complete his journey.
However, from overnight Thursday to Friday, his team has not been able to settle any contact with him when he activated two distress beacons.
Earlier in 2019, he competed for his adventure while crossing the Atlantic alone in a custom-built barrel. It was a trip of 127 days which have created hassle on Facebook.
Sarvin wanted to reach the Caribbean again, this time hoping for the best. In the adventure, he wished to travel in a growing boat that was eight metres long and 1.7 metres wide with a rowing station at its centre.
His daughter on her Facebook page had also informed that the search operation was started immediately after the contact had been finished with Sarvin. Both the French, Portuguese and US sea rescue services have conducted the process.
Madeira Portuguese islands off the northwest were the last place from where the contact was established, and he was going to pave his way to Ponta Delgada in the Azores.
Sarvin was also extended his trip by 900 km in the wake of unfavourable weather conditions.
Earlier on Wednesday, he posted a Facebook post and asserted that strong swell and wind had forced him to use an electric water desalinator to a backup one operated by hand.
He said it is costing me physical energy and further noted, “Be assured I am not in danger.”
