The German Embassy in Dhaka hosted an event on the 1st-ever celebration of diversity and inclusion in Bangladesh on Monday, October 9, 2023. The Embassy also extended its heartfelt gratitude and valued its partner organizations.
The Embassy extended their heartfelt pleasure and honoured Bandhu, BRAC University James P Grant School of Public Health, Sannoy, and Transcend, who supported the Embassy every step of the way.
The evening was inspiring, filled with captivating art, vibrant cultural expressions, and thought-provoking discussions about the importance of fostering an inclusive society.
The event also provided a vibrant platform for young artisans to showcase their talent in handicrafts and products, including insightful documentary screenings, mesmerizing dance performances, and a captivating poetry recital.
The German Embassy in Dhaka felt fortunate to host two enlightening panel discussions curated by the Embassy, featuring distinguished speakers from BRAC, BRAC University, Deutsche Welthungerhilfe, Nijera Kori, TransEnd, and UNFPA.
The long-term relations between Germany and Dhaka were also discussed during the event. They also reflected on their long-term collaborations.
Following the event, Germany also extended their support to help Bangladesh with earthquake-sensitive urban planning.
Bangladesh is frequently affected by earthquakes. The German Development Cooperation supports Bangladesh in considering the possible effects of these risks by strengthening geoscience capacities for urban planning.
Together with experts of the Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB), the Head of German Development Cooperation in Bangladesh, Florian Höllen of the German Embassy, was conducting tests with earthquake hazard-related PS Log machine on September 23, 2023.
Germany provided the machine through the Technical Cooperation Project ‘Geo-Information for Urban Planning and Adaptation to Climate Change’ implemented by BGR (Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources) and GSB.
The PS Log machine will contribute to a safer and more resilient urban development in Bangladesh by providing quality assured geo-information.
