At the event, Finance Minister Singh discussed the financial aspects significant in developing and growing the economy and the nation. He also expressed his appreciation and pleasure for being invited to the event.

He further, while expressing his gratitude, also highlighted President Macron’s leadership in convening leaders to focus on modernising the major global financial institutions and commended the work that institutions like the IMF, IDB and World Bank had done over decades, pointing out the support they had given to Guyana when democracy was restored in the early 1990s. The then-Government had to deal with the PNC’s legacy of unsustainable debt and widespread economic mismanagement.

The Summit brought together over a hundred global leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, President Joe Biden’s Special Envoy, and former US Secretary of State John Kerry.
