Italy has reported 180,426 cases of the COVID-19 virus over the past 24 hours on January 15, 2022, while, 308 patients have lost their lives due to the deadly virus, as per the report of health Ministry. The toll of death fell from 316 recorded on the previous day.
The country has also become one of the worst-hit countries by the pandemic known as the COVID-19 virus. Moreover, the deaths linked to the Coronavirus is also witnessing a surge in the country. As per the latest reports, since the pandemic has emerged in the country, it has reported a total of 140,856 people have lost their lives due to the deadly viral illness.
Meanwhile, the death toll is the second-highest toll in entire Europe after Britain, which has surpassed the 150,000 deaths due to the contagious mutant earlier on January 9, 20222. Apart from this, with the new emerging deaths in the country, the fatality toll has become the ninth highest toll in the world.
So far, the country has recorded a total of 8.55 million individuals who have been exposed to the deadly virus. The surge in infection in the country is becoming highly contagious due to the emergence of a new strain of COVID-19 called Omicron.
Further, on Saturday, January 15, 2022, a total of 18,370 people have admitted to the hospital facilities due to the positive result of the COVID-19 and found critical while testing. However, this toll of hospitalized patients does not include the patients admitted to the intensive care units of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the country has reported a slight increase in the toll of hospitalized patients on the day as it stood at 18,019 patients a day earlier.
Apart from this, a total of 141 patients have been admitted to the intensive care units as they were found critical due to the infection related to the coronavirus pandemic. With the new admissions in intensive care, the toll of patients stands at 1677. However, it has dropped slightly from previously recorded cases stands at 1,679.
Over the past 24 hours, the number of tests has been processed by the hospital facilities were 1.22 million for the COVID-19 pandemic, as compared to the 1.13 million tests processed previously, as per the health ministry of Italy.
