Medvedev Warns Trump of ‘Kennedy-Like Fate’ if He Ends Ukraine War

As the race for the next American president intensifies, global eyes are fixed on Washington, with Russia keenly observing the evolving political landscape.

In a striking intervention, Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s Deputy Chairman of the Security Council and former president, issued a grave warning directed at former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has pledged to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine if he wins re-election.

Speaking on Trump’s recent assertions, Medvedev noted that Russian officials had previously dismissed Trump’s statements about quickly resolving the war.

However, Medvedev’s tone shifted as he addressed Trump directly, cautioning that any attempt to act on this promise could lead Trump to “end up like Kennedy,” referencing the assassination of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

Medvedev’s ominous remark alludes to the potential risks Trump could face if he seeks to alter U.S. foreign policy toward Ukraine and Russia.

The Russian official also targeted Vice President Kamala Harris, who is expected to lead the Democratic ticket in 2024. Medvedev characterized Harris in harsh terms, describing her as “stupid, inexperienced, and controllable.”

Medvedev’s remarks echo previous criticisms from Moscow toward U.S. leadership, signaling a belief that any new administration, regardless of party, would likely adopt a similar stance toward Russia.

In Medvedev’s view, the American political establishment’s approach to Russia remains unchanged, regardless of the candidate, reflecting a bipartisan commitment to maintaining pressure on Moscow.

“The outcome of the election will make little difference to us,” he asserted, adding that both candidates are “part of the same consensus aimed at undermining Russian interests.”

Medvedev’s criticism of Trump and Harris reflects Russia’s anticipation of continued American involvement in Ukraine, despite Trump’s repeated assertions that he could swiftly end the war.

Medvedev emphasized that Trump would not be able to conclude the conflict “in a day, not in three, not in a month,” underlining Russia’s skepticism toward Trump’s proposed foreign policy approach.

The rhetoric from Medvedev also reflects Moscow’s focus on the next U.S. president’s stance toward military spending. The former Russian president highlighted the significance of Washington’s military-industrial complex, which he said plays a crucial role in shaping U.S. engagement in foreign conflicts.

“What matters to us is that the new president continues to fuel the military-industrial complex,” Medvedev stated, underscoring Russia’s perception that American military spending aligns closely with its foreign policy decisions.

Medvedev’s remarks come amid heightened speculation over whether Trump, if elected, would truly pivot U.S. policy in a way that could affect the dynamics of the Ukraine conflict.

His warnings of a “Kennedy-like fate” hint at the deep divisions and high stakes surrounding Washington’s policies in the region, suggesting that any shift could meet with significant resistance.

As the American election approaches, Medvedev’s message underscores Russia’s stance that, regardless of the next president’s intentions, U.S.-Russian relations are likely to remain adversarial.

His pointed comments toward both Trump and Harris signal that Moscow remains prepared for an extended standoff with Washington, even as potential policy shifts in the U.S. continue to captivate international observers.
