Melissa Skerrit met Olympic medalist Thea Lafond at Dons & Divas

Melissa Poponne Skerrit, Minister of Housing, Land & Urban Development for Dominica, met with the Olympic gold medalist Thea Lafond Gadson. The gathering took place at Dons & Divas Boutique on Monday, 02 September.

Thea Lafond Gadson recently became the cause of celebration of the island nation of Dominica after scoring the top position at the Paris Olympics Games 2024. She became the first individual to win a gold medal in the history of the country.

The information about the meeting was shared officially by Melissa Skerrit on her social media account. The Olympic champion met with several significant personality in the last few days after her return to Dominica.

Melissa Skerrit and Thea Lafond met at a clothing shop located along Cork Street in Roseau, Dominica. The store, named Dons & Divas Boutique, provides an affordable clothing range for people interested in the hottest celebrity-inspired looks and trendiest fashion.

The reason behind the meeting of both personalities at the clothing place is the approach of Thea Lafond to create her own custom creole couture wear. Melissa Skerrit is facilitating the new range of clothes based on national legend.

The range of fashion dedicated to Thea Lafond will be prepared by the hands of in-house designers. It is said that the Thea custom wear will be available for the people this creole season. This is just one of the honors being given to the Champion.

Thea Lafond is named for the Dominica Award of Honour, which is the highest award for a civilian. The award will be dedicated to her on the upcoming Independence day of the nation on 03 November. She is also given a lot at Warners and cash amount with respect for her achievement.

The government of Dominica also announced the creation of a new sports facility under the name of Thea Lafond Gadson. The work on the project will be started soon as per the shared details. Thea represented the nation in the women’s triple jump category and covered a record distance of the year.

Just a few days ago, Thea Lafond also gave a courtesy call to Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Dominica. The PM also shared glimpses of their meeting on her official social media handle. In the meeting, the coach of Thea, and her husband were also present.

In the meeting, Thea Lafond discussed the future of sports and its infrastructure in Dominica with PM Roosevelt Skerrit. Her views come with value as well because she has been named for the position of national sports ambassador.

Melissa Poponne Skerrit stated in her social media post, “It was both a pleasure and an honor to host Dominica’s own first gold medalist, Thea Lafond Gadson, at Dons & Divas Boutique !!! We are so excited to facilitate the creation of her own custom creole couture wear from our in-house designer. Look for Thea in our custom wear this Creole season!!!”
