Oman: President Hiatham Bin Tareeq expresses pleasure telephone call with Iran president, Ibrahim Raisi

The President of the Republic, Hiatham Bin Tareeq, again expressed his relief after the release, on May 12, of French citizens detained in Iran. He also reiterated his deep concern over the four French nationals still in Iran and called for their immediate release.

As per the Update, The President of the Republic of Oman, Hiatham Bin Tareeq, then expressed concern over the current course of the Iranian nuclear program. He pointed out the willingness of France and its European partners to seek a diplomatic solution to the issue. He emphasized the importance of Tehran taking concrete and feasible measures to reduce escalation, fully and without delay implementing its international commitments and the commitments it made to the International Atomic Energy Agency on March 4, 2023.

The President of the Republic also warned of the dangerous security and humanitarian consequences of handing Iran drones to Russia and called for Tehran to immediately stop supporting the war against Ukraine.

Also, the presidents of the two countries discussed the regional situation. The president mentioned France’s constant commitment to the stability and security of the region. The president pointed out the urgency to work to enhance regional cooperation to meet shared challenges.

The French president once again expressed his relief for the release of two French nationals on May 12, who were detained in Iran. He also reiterated his deep concern about the four French nationals still imprisoned in Iran and called for their immediate release.

The President of the French Republic then expressed his concern about the current trajectory of Iran’s nuclear program. He reiterated the determination of France and its European partners to find a diplomatic solution to this issue. He highlighted the importance of Tehran taking concrete and verifiable de-escalation measures and implementing fully and immediately her international obligations and commitments made to the International Atomic Energy Agency on March 4 2023.

The French president also warned of the serious security and humanitarian consequences of Iran’s delivery of drones to Russia and called on Tehran to put an immediate end to its support for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Finally, the two heads of state discussed the regional situation. The French president emphasized France’s constant commitment to stability and security in the region. The Head of State reiterated the urgent need to strengthen regional cooperation to solve everyday challenges.
