PM Roosevelt Skerrit meets CSG Patricia Scotland in Dominica
Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit met with Commonwealth Secretary-General- Patricia Scotland at the office of the prime minister of Dominica on Wednesday. He expressed pleasure and said that they talked about matters related to SIDS.
The meeting featured a discussion on the development priorities of the small island developing states and termed it productive. He also extended gratitude to CSG Scotland for her leadership in the Commonwealth and said that she has always remained a great force for the small island states.
Along with that, the leaders have also discussed the development priorities for small island states such as Dominica. He said,” I was delighted to welcome the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, Commonwealth Secretary-Genera to the Office of the Prime Minister on Wednesday.”
Prime Minister Skerrit added that they discussed her work at the Commonwealth Secretariat and the development priorities for small island states like Dominica.
He also thanked the Secretary-General for her leadership of the Commonwealth.
CSG Secretary-General also expressed pleasure to meet with Prime Minister Dr. Skerrit and added that the discussion was held about sustainable practices, collaboration enhancement, and digital scope. She extended support to SIDS like Dominica and said that the work will be done to enhance these countries.
She also noted the ideas of enhancing the partnerships with the private sector and digital training courses, particularly for youth. She said,”We discussed the Commonwealth’s support to SIDs through programmes such as Commonwealth CFAH, Blue Charter, and Common Sensing, as well as partnerships with private sector and digital training courses.”
CSG Scotland also expressed delight to be back in Dominica and said that this is the land of berth. She also met with President of Dominica- Sylvanie Burton and expressed gratitude to the government of Dominica for the warm welcome.
During the meeting, she spoke about the value of AI in development and its scope in the lives of youth from across the globe. President and CSG also touched on several other topics of the development and growth which could prosper the small island states.
