PM Skerrit attends Memorial Day of Prez Comrade Hugo Chávez, recalls his contributions

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit attended a ceremony at the Venezuelan Embassy to commemorate the 11th anniversary, or Memorial Day, of Venezuelan President Comrade Hugo Chávez, who passed away on March 5, 2013.

He reflected on his efforts to promote relations and cooperation between the Latin American and Caribbean regions. PM Skerrit took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to share glimpses of the ceremony.

“This morning I attended a small ceremony at the Venezuelan Embassy to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the passing of my dear friend Comrade Hugo Chavez.

I reflected on his efforts to foster Latin American and Caribbean integration and the strength of the cooperation and friendship between our two countries,” PM Skerrit added.

Furthermore, he honoured and recognized late President Chavez’s contributions to the development of the country.

İn memory of the late President, PM Skerrit expressed his recognition of President Nicolás Maduro Moros’s courage and continued attachment to Bolivarian ideals, as well as his upholding Chávez’s legacy.

Notably, both Venezuela and Dominica have been sharing long-term relations with each other for many years. Earlier, PM Skerrit also sent warm greetings to the nation and its President, Nicolas Maduro, on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution.

PM Skerrit praised the Bolivarian Republic’s 25 years of strength and revolution, saying, “Your celebration is our celebration, your challenges are our challenges.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the occasion to pay tribute to Commander Hugo Chávez, “who was the father of the revolution .”He also acknowledged the legacy left by Chávez that impacted not only the Venezuelan people but the entire world.

“I express my solidarity and send my congratulations to the government of President Nicolás Maduro, the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela and the Venezuelan people,” PM Skerrit noted.

People across the nation extended their regards in remembrance of the Late President Chavez and his contributions to his nation. “Chavez. A comrade of the Caribbean indeed. This only pertains to those of us who truly know Caribbean and Latin American history,” one quoted one.
