Russia threatens to attack International Criminal Court (ICC) with hypersonic missiles

Russia has threatened to attack the International Criminal Court(ICC)in The Hague with hypersonic missiles after the court issued a warrant of arrest against President Vladimir Putin, Aljazeera reported this week.

As a result, the ICC has expressed concerns over the threats issued by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. He threatened the ICC court in Hague with Russia’s Kinzhal hypersonic missile if they attempted to arrest Putin.

In his telegram post, Medvedev wrote, “judges, look carefully at the sky.” On March 18, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin for allegedly expelling thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia.

In his defence, Russia commented that they did it to secure the children and keep them away from the active warzone.

“Everyone walks under God and missiles. It’s quite possible to imagine a scenario where a Russian ship deployed in the North Sea could strategically strike the Hague courthouse with a hypersonic Onyx (Cruise) or Kinzhal missile,” Medvedev, a former Russian Russian president, wrote.

Additionally, Medvedev highlighted that Russia has strategic nuclear superiority. He said, “Thank God Russia we have equality and even superiority in strategic nuclear forces, which is indeed even more necessary for the existence of our country. We may have been torn apart if we do not have it.”

Over 1185 nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles are currently operational in Russia (ICBMs). It is even more than all thirty NATO members put together, as the total number of ICBMs in the NATO alliance is 800, 385 fewer than Russia.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation also informed that Russia will produce 1.5 thousand tanks this year.

“We will make 1.5 thousand tanks this year. Articulate how much our opponent will get even according to the most optimistic calculations – that’s the answer for you,” Medvedev said in an interview with leading Russian media.
