Saint Lucia: Deputy PM Ernest marks World Trade Market Trade Show in London

Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire started the World Travel Market (WTM) Trade Show in London this week on Monday, November 7, 2023. He attended the Minister’s Summit in Collaboration with UNWTO and WTTC. He also shared glimpses from the meeting.

Deputy PM Ernest Hilaire shared the information about the event on his official social media handler, in which he mentioned, “The start of a new week brings new opportunities to us. Today, I started the World Travel Market (WTM) Trade Show in London, attending the Minister’s Summit in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).”

This year, the theme for the summit is unique as they focus on ‘Transforming Tourism Through Youth and Education’. 

Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire, while marking the summit, underlined the Government’s efforts to create and promote a sustainable tourism industry. He shared that the Government would continue to do so and create meaningful opportunities for the youth and the broader population. 

Further, he also ensured that the Government would continue to expand the training opportunities to enhance the skill sets of their people. This would make people compete on the global platform and rival the best.

Deputy Prime Minister Ernest outlined that the World Travel Market would give Saint Lucia a chance to strengthen its partnership with its longstanding partners in the industry.

“It will also present us with the opportunity to expand our presence in the Intermarket and tap into other areas that will help to grow our local tourism economy further,” he added.

Reportedly, The World Trade Market Trade show marked a significant milestone in the travel and tourism industry’s recovery. 

After a period of uncertainty and travel restrictions, this year’s event promises to be a beacon of hope for travellers and industry professionals alike.

The (WTM) has been a crucial platform for the global travel industry for over four decades, and this year’s edition is set to be no different.

 It is a symbol of the industry’s resilience and adaptability. This year’s event, taking place in London’s ExCeL centre, brings together professionals from all corners of the globe who are eager to reconnect, share ideas, and reshape the future of travel.
