British Conservative Party Politician and Member of Parliament for Highpeak Constituency in the United Kingdom, Robert Largan, expressed concern about the Highpeak Halls being converted into a large-scale Asylum Dispersal Centre and updated the constituents about the upcoming meeting of the planning committee on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
The University of Derby has submitted an application to the High Peak Borough Council to convert High Peak Halls into a Large scales Asylum Center.
While expressing his concern and updating the audience about the Planning Committee Meeting, the Member of Parliament for the Highpeak Constituency, Robert Largan, took to his official social media handle recently.
As per the Update, the Conservative Councillors have requested that the application be brought before elected councillors for a decision instead of being rubber-stamped.
The application will be heard at the upcoming meeting of the planning committee, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The meeting will begin at 1:30 pm and is being held at Buxton Methodist Church.
MP Robert Largan will attend and speak against the application. The Common public can also attend.
“You can submit your objection to the application here: https://tinyurl.com/buxtonadc“, MP Robert added.
Further, MP Robert Largan shared that he doesn’t want to stop the University’s plans for an asylum dispersal centre. He wanted to see High Peak Halls be used positively to help local people.
“I will be pushing for High Peak Halls to be converted into badly needed affordable homes for local people,” he added.
Furthermore, MP Robert stressed that this option might be less lucrative for the University, and the Labour Council must step up. But it is the right way forward for the High Peak.
“You can still take my survey on this issue at www.robertlargan.co.uk/immigration“, he shared.
At last, MP Robert Largan, while urging the people to share the information, added, “Please share this with any friends, family or neighbours who might be interested so they can have their say too.”
