UK vows to take action against attack on Indians by Khalistan supporters

New Delhi: According to British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, the UK’s police and security agencies have promised to take action against any illegal activities while carefully watching the attacks on Indians.

In one of his interviews, he declared: “We will pay more attention to the protection of individuals, our police and security team will pay close attention to such activities and if they see any criminal conduct, they will promptly take action on it.”

The Indian High Commission in London has frequently been the target of violent protests by groups in support of the Khalistan movement. Such supporters were heard outside the commission on February 18 yelling pro-Khalistani and anti-Indian chants.

Former Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president of Andhra Pradesh, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, criticised the Pro-Khalistani organisation on Twitter.

He claimed that these people were yelling anti-Indian and anti-Prime Minister Modi chants in front of the Indian High Commission in London. Reddy added that he thought the group was delusional in believing that their protests would help them. He thought that they were only hurting themselves, not anyone else.

These anti-Indian statements were made by Khalistanis when some of their members in Canada attacked a Hindu temple.

While this was going on, Cleverly stated in a Delhi interview that “we want to grow more relationships with Indians and we want to enhance our links with Indians in the near future.”

He also said India’s G20 presidency will be exciting and see more fantastic opportunities, which will be a great opportunity for a sustainable economic agenda and green agenda.

James Cleverly commented on the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), stating that the UK conducts significant business with India and is committed to working closely with them.

He further mentioned that he would be meeting with India’s trade secretary to ensure that the agreement is mutually beneficial and unlocks billions of pounds worth of bilateral trade.
