United States Army in Garrison, Japan, is all set to host Sagami River Clean-up initiative

The United States Army in Garrison, Japan and Zama City will host a Sagami River Clean-up on Sunday, September 3, 2023, an initiative to clean the river water. They are also looking for volunteers to join them.

Reportedly, the Camp Zama clean-up project is a joint initiative by the United States Army in Garrison, Japan and Zama city to join in cleaning up the Sagami River originally began a few years back when his office found out that a group of students from Camp Zama had organized their clean-up project at the river in conjunction with Earth Day, which is observed every April.

While announcing this initiative, the United States Army Garrison highlighted the importance of cleaning up the river project. They also shared the Schedule of the day.

It is a Sagami River Lovers Association” effort. This association was formed in 1982 and focused on “protecting the precious nature around Sagami River and passing it on to the next generation.

Volunteers were provided protective gloves, tongs and garbage bags and spent about an hour cleaning the area along the river and near the playground.

Zama City will host a Sagami River Clean-up on Sunday, September 3, and they are looking for volunteers!

Date and Time: September 3 from 9 to 10:45 a.m.
8:30 a.m.: Check-in begins
9 a.m.: Opening Ceremony
9:30 to 10:30 a.m.: Clean-up
10:30 a.m.: Closing Ceremony
10:45 a.m.: End of event

Location: Sagami River (Parking space is limited, so please carpool as much as possible.)

– Please bring water and sun protection
– Gloves will be provided
– The weather call is 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event. The city will notify us if the event gets cancelled due to inclement weather.
